Join us for our annual Fall Retreat with speaker Pastor Bobby Scott. We pray it will be a time of sweet fellowship with God and our church family.

“What is Your Treasure?”

It’s been well said that we are either going into a trial, in a trial, or just leaving a trial. It’s not a question of if we have troubles. The only questions are when, how often, and how long they will last. And sometimes, like Job’s trial, our trials are unjust, and it won’t seem that God is answering. The question then, is, in our fallen world, “Is there a secret to living free of anxiety, to finding satisfaction, and being able to rejoice in a world full of difficulties?” Paul gives us the answer in the book of Philippians. While sitting in jail from an unjust imprisonment for faithfully preaching the Gospel, Paul pens one of the sweetest books of devotion to Christ in the NT. What was Paul’s secret? The answer is Christ! How was he able to rejoice when it seems anyone of us would have succumbed to anxiety and complaints to God? Through the Gospel, Paul had become convinced that Jesus is worth everything, and in knowing Him, by faith we can rejoice in everything too. During retreat, we’ll walk through the book of Philippians and find, like Paul did, that embracing the invaluable worth of knowing Christ is the secret to joy and contentment.
